NAME OF GAME
SCRATCH
Shooting gallery style single player pool practice game. Perform many practical shots in a short amount of time.
- Spend less time setting up balls.
- Spend less time deciding what shot to take.
- Spend less time walking around the table.
SETUP
- Place 13-15 balls in a line on the head string.
- Place one ball on the foot spot.
Line of balls rack – 13 ball for seven foot pool table.
Line of balls rack – XL 15 ball for nine foot pool table.
OBJECTIVE
- Using a cue stick to hit the balls in the line, eliminate balls by pocketing or “scratching” balls into the pockets.
RULES
- Hit the balls in the line in order from left to right or right to left.
- The game ends when all the balls in the line have been hit.
- A ball must contact a ball outside of the line.
- The game ends if a ball does NOT contact a ball outside of the line.
- Only one ball from the line can move during the course of every shot.
- The game ends if any of the remaining balls in the line are moved in any way.
SCORING
- Score one point for each ball on the table at the end of the game.
- Eliminate all balls on the table to score zero.
VARIATIONS
- Move the line backward to make the game harder.
- Setup one ball on the spot and one ball frozen to the middle of the end rail to make the game a lot harder.
- Eliminate side pockets to practice longer shots.
- Hit every shot in a different pocket to work on versatility.
- Move the line backward to practice shooting one-handed.
